Why do we do Meditation and Fast during Solar Eclipses and Lunar Eclipse?

In India i had seen it many times that People perform Havans in their home.But most of these people in India and around the world do not know the actual reason behind it. So, I decided to do some research and find out the truth behind it and found out some really knowledgeable and must share stuff.

Why do we do Meditation and Fast during Solar Eclipses and Lunar Eclipse?


Well there are two type of belief for this Tradition. One is traditional belief i.e. what people believe and other is scientific belief . We will talk about both traditional and scientific (or ancient) belief with some of its history one by one:

◾Traditional Belief (what people think):


Many people around the world still see eclipses as evil omens that bring with them death, destruction and disasters.They also think that solar eclipses can be a danger to pregnant women and their unborn child. In many cultures, young children and pregnant women are asked to stay indoors during a solar eclipse.In many parts of India, people observe fasts during a solar eclipse due to the belief that any food cooked while an eclipse happens will be poisonous and unpure.

◾Scientific (Ancient) Belief:


The prescription to refrain from consuming food and meditating during an eclipse, is based on ancient wisdom and intuition, beyond that which may appear obvious. It may have been purposely shrouded in a layer of mythology to tell a story and help perpetuate an underlying wisdom, while making the benefits of the prescription accessible to all. The rational behind these prescribed behaviors have been refined empirically over 1000s of years, such that those prescriptions have turned in to traditions. They draw from an intuitive understanding of the cosmos, our movement through it and the constraints imposed by the governing laws of physics. The science behind the custom is tied to the space time continuum and an interdependence on gravity. The notion of space, time, matter and gravity being interdependent, challenges our instinctive beliefs , given that our frame of reference is limited to that which we encounter normally. We are most comfortable with the approximations laid out in classical physics, which adequately captures most phenomenon on the surface of our Earth. However, it becomes challenging for any of us to truly relate to the quantum nature of sub atomic particles, the elasticity of space-time and gravity, the cosmic forces of astrophysics at an interstellar scale or Metaphysics. When the sun, the earth and the moon align, it subjects all earthly matter (including all of us) to a significant gravitational field. This gravitational field alters the space-time continuum or you could even say based on the "Four-dimensional Minkowski space-time", that this exalted gravity field is the result of a changing space-time reference.

Based on my preliminary calculations by applying g=G*M1*M2/(R)^2, the force of gravity goes from the normal night time condition of 9.8036896 m/s^2 to 9.7976554 m/s^2 during a lunar eclipse & 9.791793247 m/s^2 during a solar eclipse. This can be derived as the algebraic sum of the gravitational vector forces that impacts any matter on the earth's surface facing the moon during the eclipse. These forces are the net sum of gravity between such matter and the core of the Earth at a distance of 6,378 kilometers, between the moon at a distance of 378,021.9 kilometers (net distance taking in to consideration the radius of the Earth) and between the Sun at a distance of 149.613 million kilometers (net distance considering diameter of the earth). While we move through this path within the context of our preexisting frame of reference, we are unable to appreciate our movement through the space-time continuum. The weaker gravitational field during the lunar eclipse accelerates time and could have a definite, yet subtle, impact on our bodies, as it may do so on all matter on our planet. Food would also be subject to this altered reference of space time, given the lower gravitational field during a lunar eclipse, due to Gravitational time dilation. By applying the time dilation impact of gravity on the earth's surface; T = To * (1 - 2gR/C^2)^-0.5, there is a finite time acceleration effect during a lunar eclipse (per my preliminary calculations = 6.95691E-10 sec) and more so, during a solar eclipse (per my preliminary calculations = 6.94849x10E-10 sec). Even though this is of the order of a few billionths of a second every second, the clock is running around 0.02% faster, given that the baseline time dilation effect on the earth's surface is 6.95E-10 sec. This the cumulative impact over the duration of an eclipse (spanning hours, which could be 1,000s of seconds) becomes more significant.

This in itself could manifest as "indigestion" in people. The prescription of deep meditation during a lunar eclipse is to reap the benefits of the acceleration of time from Gravitational time dilation, which can be comprehended as the equivalent of "overclocking" a processor, given the time scales in neurotransmitters that have shown increased Gamma (25 - 45 Hz) brain activity.

Some of the researcher also said that during Solar Eclipse and Lunar Eclipse, Sun radiates UV rays and that is harmful for retina.

  1. I agree with the meditation part, but not with the part related to consumption of food. If the clocks are actually ticking 0.02% faster, then the individual 'clocks' of each and every atom present on the region which experiences the eclipse, will start going faster. HOWEVER, the relative time between the atoms present in our body, and the food we consume, will remain CONSTANT. Thus, even though the whole process of gravitational time dilation will affect us, the indigestion cannot be caused, because the relative time between the food going down our epiglottis, the release of the digestive juices, etc, won't be affected relatively as compared to the food. Thus the effective time between each and every event in our body remains the same. Only an omniscient being could tell the difference. Hence there will be no indigestion. If the case presented here could indeed be true, then people could use their digestive system to verify the effect of time dilation, thus giving a standard reference frame without observing anything externally.

      During lunar Eclipse, cooked food will go through the phases of its deterioration much more rapidly in a subtle way than it does on a normal day AS THE TIME ACCELERATES MORE FASTER THAN THE NORMAL DAYS.
      During lunar eclipses, what would happen in 28 days over a full lunar cycle is happening in a subtle way over the course of two to three hours of the eclipse. In terms of energy, the earth’s energy is mistaking this eclipse as a full cycle of the moon. Certain things happen in the planet where anything that has moved away from its natural condition will deteriorate very fast. This is why while there is no change in raw fruits and vegetables, there is a distinct change in the way cooked food is before and after the eclipse. What was nourishing food turns into poison.This is not just about food. This is about the way you are itself. If you have moved away from the natural dimension of who you are in anyway, you become more susceptible to these forces. If you are in your natural state, you are least available to these forces.
