There is a custom or tradition of tying the Moli or Red String on various occasions. This might have crossed many minds that what is the significance behind tying Moli on wrist. Is it really a custom or there is some scientifical reason attached to it. So, i decided to do some digging on internet and various books and find out some knowledgeable and shareable stuff.

◾Traditional Belief:

It is believed that Tying Moli on wrist will bring the blessing of Tridev (Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, Lord Brahma) and Tridevi (Goddess Kali, Goddess Saraswati, Goddess Laxami). With their blessing, there will be enrichment of Money, Power and Knowledge.

◾Scientific Belief:

A dosha (Faults), according to Ayurveda, is one of three bodily Bioelements that make up one's constitution. These teachings are also known as the Tridosha theory. The three bioelements are always fluctuating in the body. They are highly unstable and changes with day and night, and with food. The central concept of Ayurvedic medicine is the theory that health exists when there is a balance between three fundamental bodily bioelements or doshas called Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

There are 72,000 nerves in the human body. These nerves form knots in various parts. There is an important nerve within the wrist. Placing a tiny weight on the wrist activates the nerve centers in that region. This is why Indian women wear bangles, common men tie molis, sanyasis and others involved in spiritual pursuits tie a rudraksha mala around the wrist.

According to the Science, it is a acupressure point. When blood flows from the wrist through Moli then it create a friction in nerve and prevent it from getting colder and make it warm. This protects the body from Tridoshas.
